Education and experience
He graduated from the VUB with a Master of Laws in 1993. Philippe joined Bertouille & Associates in 2001 as a partner, which later merged with Lawfort in 2005. In 2006, Philippe and a number of colleagues from Lawfort founded the law firm Astrea.
On 1 January 2014 he started his own law firm, called Agio. Philippe is registered with the Bar Associations of Brussels and Antwerp and also speaks French and English fluently in addition to his native Dutch.
Philippe’s main focus is on corporate law and on mergers and acquisitions in particular. It’s for this reason as well that he was commended by Legal 500 as one of the best lawyers in M&A and corporate law in Belgium. Philippe has already assisted in numerous large and medium-sized acquisitions, both in Belgium and for international parties.
In addition to M&A transactions, Philippe has also been able to sustainably rescue various companies in difficulties due to a judicious application of the judicial reorganization proceedings, combined with his pragmatic sense of entrepreneurship.
